Hi everyone! Sorry I haven’t posted anything for sooo long! It’s been a wonderfully busy, and somewhat crazy few months. As many of you know I’m blessed to be the proud mother of three gorgeous children, one of those being our only daughter! It’s so so amazing to see your precious child grow into a kind, inspiring, clever, gorgeous and talented human being! I couldn’t even begin to describe how incredible our Charlotte is! She makes us too proud.
Anyway…so she decided to grow up, and…MARRY! So that turned ME into the incredibly excited #motherofthebride!!! It was such a joy to experience the paramount happiness of seeing our beautiful girl married to the man of her dreams!
Only I must tell you the funniest story.
Oh how I tried to get it right! You know, make sure THE DRESS was ultra-classy, not too short, tight, colour un-co or inappropriate! They say #themotherofthebride should be the next best dressed person in the church you know! So I hunted high and low for the right dress. I found it! It was a gorgeous lace midi dress by LOVER, only I was promptly disappointed to learn that it was sold out! I blame Miranda Kerr for that! ;P Not one to give up easily I called every store in the country until I finally found the very last one, it was a gorgeous blue, and my size. I was so happy and relieved to have finally found the perfect dress.
The handsome groom sung our Charly down the isle which made her, and almost every other woman in the room cry! The ceremony was greeted with a downpouring of rain midway through, and a congregation full of wild hooting and clapping at the ‘I Do’s’!! If that wasn’t enough romance to melt all of our hearts my new son-in-law then whisked her away in his arms and ran out of the church, with as all following closely behind cheering and laughing! It was just wonderful.
During all of that heated excitement (it was at least 40’C and there was no air-con) I along with everyone else had been sweating profusely. Now here’s the funny bit! In all that standing and sitting for songs etc, I hadn’t noticed that I had actually fully split the gorgeous nude coloured fitted lining under my gorgeous Lover dress!!!! It had gotten stuck to my sweaty legs and there was absolutely NO GIVE in that slip when the crunch came! The terrible thing is I didn’t know it had happened! I proudly walked out of the church, threw rose petals, hugged loved ones and chatted of our utmost bliss for our daughter. I had no idea that there was a great gaping split revealing my un-covered bottom (I had very scant panties on that day!) to anyone who cared to take a glance! It’s a wonder I didn’t feel the lovely little Summer breeze which was blowing my tushie! When someone finally plucked up the courage to tell me the shocking news (it had been almost 20 minutes)…of course I squealed! It was absolutely awful, terrible, funny and typical all at once! Quite hilarious now.
So there was only one thing to do. GRAB the brides veil and position it over the disaster area while we posed for family photos! Thank-you Charlotte! Bride to the rescu! Oh dear such a disastrous #motherofthebride!
Thanks Bryce for the (fab) pics!
Thankfully home was only a 10 minute drive away, so when the bridal party left to get group photographs taken, I snuck home to pop on a pair of nude nanna knickers. That did the trick for the remainder of the day, then into the evening, and I still haven’t fixed the split in that dress!!
Moral of the story is: always wear nanna underpants under your beautiful #motherofthebride dress…just in case !!!!!!
