I like to use all organic ingredients to make these even more delicious and nutritious.
Cheezy Oven-Done Kale Chips
2 – 3 large bunches of kale, de-stemmed and torn into pieces
1 cup raw cashews
1 1/2 cups water
Juice of one large lemon
1 capful of apple cider vinegar
2 onions, peeled quartered
2 – 3 teaspoons salt, or more to taste
2 tablespoons savoury yeast flakes
1/4 – 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 piece fresh tumeric, 1 – 2 inches, optional
1 tablespoon cold pressed olive oil
Prepare kale in a large bowl by tearing of the leafy parts into large pieces. WHIZ together everything else in the ingredients list until smooth. Pour over kale and massage lightly with your hands until each leaf is coated. Don’t work the leaves too much as they’ll go limp, and harder for the air to get around them when dehydrating. Place seasoned leaves onto baking trays and dehydrate in a fan forced oven at 50’C for 24-36 hours or until absolutely no moisture remains. Even better if you have a dehydrator, but mine broke so into the oven they go. Mmm smells soo good!
Store in a glass air-tight jar ready for snacking, roadtips, movie nights or adding to any raw meal you like for extra crunchy deliciousness.
